| Johnny Mann Receives National Flag |
|
Johnny recently served as guest conductor for the Brainerd Presbyterian Church Choir in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dr. Tom Hammett, Director of Music Ministries, invited Johnny to direct five of his own sacred and patriotic arrangements, including, ‘Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus,’ ‘Sweet Hour of Prayer,’ ‘Quiet Time,’ ‘The Star-Spangled Banner,’ and the premiere performance of ‘One Nation Under God.’
During the service, Johnny was presented the national flag with an accompanying certificate which reads: "At the request of the Honorable Zach Wamp, Member of Congress, this flag was flown in honor of Musician, Arranger, Composer, and Patriot Johnny Mann, for six decades of wholesome family entertainment especially with the Johnny Mann Singers, for the promotion of American values, for love of God and his fellow man, and for exemplary love of country and patriotism." Signed by Stephen T. Ayers Acting Architect of the Capitol The flag was flown over the National Capitol Building on the 276 anniversary of the birth of George Washington. Dr. Hammett said he could think of no more fitting token of thanks and recognition for this great American patriot than our national symbol which was flown in highest honor over our Capitol. |
