Johnny leads Anderson University students in new school song
ANDERSON, SC — The last Founder’s Day of Anderson University’s first century saw the birth of a new school song for its second century. During a convocation on Wednesday in Henderson Auditorium, school President Evans Whitaker announced that a new song would become the school’s official alma mater. “Our alma mater has been sung with pride … and will live on well into the future,” Whitaker said. “But the centennial alma mater will now be the official alma mater for the second century of Anderson University.” The university commissioned composer, singer and Anderson resident Johnny Mann to write the new song titled “Sounds of Anderson.” Mann led the students, faculty and staff in the standing-room-only crowd, in a rendition of the “centennial alma mater.” (Exerpted from the Anderson Independent Mail)
